About Conference
Since it first joined the United Nations in 1974 (as a Liberation Organization), all the way until it was upgraded to the status of a non-member observer state, Palestine has been one of the most prominent topics addressed in the international legal literature. Not to mention it’s current developments before the ICC. Therefore, the Question of Palestine will be on the table in our next conference. The one-day conference aims to shed light concentrically, together with highly qualified experts, on the effectiveness of International Law and its prospects for the Question of Palestine.
Academia, civil society and media have long been effective tools in highlighting and advocating for this cause in an attempt to come up with solutions to end the prolonged occupation. The conference aims to discuss ways and prospects for networking and joint cooperation between all relevant stakeholders to reach a greater level of effectiveness for international law in the Palestinian cause; especially on issues like Jerusalem, prisoners, and statehood. This effort is put together through the network of Jurists for Palestine Forum – that comprises more than 1000 members interested in the Palestinian cause and international law- in partnership with Birzeit University and The Independent Commission for Human Rights – ICHR.
Conference aims
1-Exploring the Palestinian scene, its actors and different framework from an international legal perspective.
2-Discussing challenges and opportunities that would lead to more efficiency in utulizing International Law with regard to the Palestinian cause.
3-Networking among Jurists and researchers interested in Palestine. In addition to discussing possible ways of cooperation and moving forward.
