On Thursday, January 14th, the first hearing of the European Court of Justice (CJEU) began, in the case of preventing settlement products from entering the European Union market. The ambassador of the Palestinian mission to the European Union in Brussels, Adel Atieh, emphasized that the importance of the session lies in the second case in which the court is required to issue its ruling regarding settlement products. He pointed out that the legal path is one of the most important work mechanisms available, and the most effective for extracting European positions towards the violations committed by the Israeli occupation in the occupied Palestinian territories. The European Court of Justice issued a court ruling in November 2019 regarding distinguishing settlement products by placing a clear label to them as “Israeli products” coming from the occupied Palestinian territories and the occupied Syrian Golan.
