The Permanent Delegation of the State of Palestine, addressing the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), submitted a letter of protest on behalf of the Arab Group to UNESCO to the Director-General of the organization. The letter was updated on the latest developments of arbitrary measures in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood and the occupation operations against worshipers in the Al-Aqsa Mosque, amid the national, Arab and international responses to the systematic Israeli crimes and attacks against Palestine and its people. The delegation added that the continuing Israeli violations in the Palestinian territories were illegal under international humanitarian law and Security Council and General Assembly resolutions. The delegation called on the Director-General of the Organization to take all appropriate measures to preserve the historic and distinctive character of East Jerusalem. In addition to the need to demand that Israel cease all violations affecting the historic and legal character of East Jerusalem and abide by the provisions of UNESCO conventions and resolutions.
