On this day in 1971, the UNSC adopted a resolution (521), reaffirming its resolutions 252 (1968) and 267 (1969). It deplores Israel’s failure to respect previous UN resolutions on measures and actions to be taken by Israel aimed at influencing the status of the city of Jerusalem. It affirms in the clearest terms that all legislative and administrative measures taken by Israel to alter the status of the city of Jerusalem, including the confiscation of land and property, and the relocation of the population, are completely invalid and cannot change the situation.
