Historian Maher al-Sharif, in his book issued by the Institute for Palestine Studies, “The Palestinian National Project: Its Development, Delimma, and Fate”, poses a fundamental question about the factors that prevented the Palestinian national movement from achieving its goals and which subsequently led to this project reaching its current predicament. The book attempts to discuss / explore these factors by tracing the historical stages that the Palestinian national project has gone through, divided upon nine main chapters, the book begins by talking about the Palestinian national project before 1948 and ends with a review of the predicament of the Palestinian national project and ways to get out of it. In this tracing, Al-Sharif relies on a main thought / concept that the ideas are the product of the historical context of their time, and therefore presents and analyzes the ideas within their local, regional, and international historical contexts.
