Researcher Mia Lattanzi published an article in the Journal of International Law and Foreign Affairs, titled “Settler Colonialism Through the Court: Domestic Interpretations of International Law.” This article assesses the opposing conclusions reached by both the International Court of Justice and the Israeli Supreme Court regarding the separation wall in the West Bank. The article focuses on how the Israeli court’s ruling while claiming compliance with international law, reverberated the subsequent challenges of Israeli occupation policies and international institutions that undermine the vital protection of the population living under military occupation, and how, through studying the history of the West Bank and the development of occupation law, can we assume the practice of settler-colonial dispossession can be recreated through contemporary international law.
