In a first-of-its-kind precedent, the Palestinian citizen Montaser Nafe’a Mansour, from the village of Burin, south of Nablus, in the northern West Bank, filed the first lawsuit in the Magistrate’s Court in Nablus against the security guard of the settlement of “Bracha” built on Nablus lands, who prevents him from completing the construction of his house which is located in the area classified “B” according to the Oslo Accords, which has been under the administrative control of the Palestinian Authority for nearly eight years, under the pretext that the house is located in an area belonging to the settlement. Mansour confirmed that the settlement security guard handed him a paper preventing him from completing the construction, and more than once demolished what Mansour had built, which prompted the latter to go to the Palestinian Ministry of Justice, which encouraged him to file a case against the settler, and to demand material and moral compensation. Mansour indicated that the compensation he demanded is 150,000 JD (about 200,000 US dollars). The next session is scheduled for the eighth of next December so that the opportunity will be given to inform the defendant through newspapers or by the method that the court finds appropriate.
