Researchers Lisbeth Herrera and Jorge Romero have published a paper in the Journal of International Relations, Strategy, and Security entitled “International Recognition of Palestine: Some Considerations from the Perspective of International Law.” The two researchers aim, through this paper, to establish whether international recognition is a sine qua non-condition for Palestine to become a state and whether this recognition is subject to the resolution of its historic conflict with Israel. In light of international law and the theory of the state, the two researchers examine the constituent elements of the state, as well as theories of recognition and the United Nations’ membership procedure, using secondary sources of information such as academic databases and official documents. The researchers also present an analysis of the position of the members of the Security Council vis-à-vis the situation in Palestine. To check the paper, click here
