In a paper published by Queen’s University researcher “Ardi Imseis” entitled “Negotiating the Illegal: On the United Nations and the Illegal Occupation of Palestine, 1967-2020”, Imseis critically examined the United Nations’ commitment to international law on the Palestinian question. The writer said that, while the UN has focused on the legality of Israel’s discrete violations of humanitarian and human rights law, scant attention has been paid by the Organization to the legality of its occupation regime as a whole. Imseis also mentioned that the negotiations under the auspices of the United Nations were discussing matters of incontrovertible legal status, such as East Jerusalem and the West Bank and others.
