Baker is a Palestinian-Israeli human rights lawyer specializing in Criminal and Constitutional Law and a Board of Trustees’ member at Law for Palestine. She previously served as a senior lawyer at Adalah- Legal Center for Arab Minority Rights in Israel and chaired the Legal Clinic for Prisoners’ Rights in the Law Faculty of Haifa University. With a background as a teaching assistant at the University of Haifa Faculty of Law and a former member of the Public Council at Yesh Din, Baker has a wealth of experience in Israeli domestic and military law. She also served as a Board member at Gisha (Legal Center for Freedom of Movement) and acted as a legal consultant for Palestinian Feminist Organizations within Israel.
Holder of an L.L.M. Degree (with Honors) in Public and International law from Tel-Aviv & North Western University in the United States (2008), Baker is an accomplished author, contributing to books such as “Palestinian Prisoners between the Community and the Individual” and “Threat: Palestinian Political Prisoners in Israeli Prisons.” She has also written numerous Op-Eds in Arabic and Hebrew media on the subjects of human rights, political freedom, and civil liberties.
Baker primarily engages in litigation concerning Palestinian human rights issues, including prisoners’ rights, victims of security forces violence, victims of domestic and sexual assaults, and family unification matters before Israeli courts. In recognition of her outstanding advocacy, she was nominated as the “Outstanding Advocate” by the National Public Defender Office in 2016.
