Al-Mezan Center for Human Rights, in partnership with Al-Haq, the Cairo Institute for Human Rights Studies, and the Women’s Centre for Legal Aid and Counseling, made an oral statement at the 45th session of the Human Rights Council, calling on member states to press on Israel to end the illegal closure of Gaza immediately. Al-Mezan expressed his regret that the Gaza Strip is witnessing a “devastating spike in the violation of the population’s basic human rights followed, including the rights to water and sanitation, to an adequate standard of living, to health, and the prohibition on the use of cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment or punishment”.
