The Institute for Religion, Culture and Public Life at Columbia University announced an upcoming event titled “Race and Catastrophe: Lessons from Palestine”. The event will delve into the global history of race, capital, slavery, and dispossession through exploring lessons that can be learned from Palestine.
The discussion will also examine the relationship between land and colonialism, going beyond exceptional models and the boundaries of nation-states.
It will feature Sherene Seikaly, Associate Professor of History at the University of California, Santa Barbara, as the speaker and Nadia Abu El-Haj, Professor of Anthropology at Barnard College and Columbia University, as the introducer.
The event will take place on April 13, 2023, from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM United States Eastern Time.
