The Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union (AIPU) called on the European Parliament to reconsider and abandon its decision regarding linking the financial support provided to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA) with the amendment of educational materials in its textbooks, allegedly promoting “hatred” and “incitement to violence.” The UNRWA was established under a clear resolution of the United Nations General Assembly in 1949 to provide assistance and protection to Palestinian refugees in its five areas of operations, namely: Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, until this issue is resolved in all its aspects as the UN decision stipulated, AIPU said.
