Authors Richard Falk, John Dugard, and Michael Lynk published a book titled: “Protecting Human Rights in Occupied Palestine: Working Through the United Nations.” This book is one of its kind, as it is the first book to comprehensively examine the efforts of the United Nations when it comes to the protection of Palestinian human rights. The book is written by three well-respected experts on international law—Richard Falk, John Dugard, and Michael Lynk— who each served as Special Rapporteurs with a mandate of reporting on both human rights and international humanitarian law violations carried out by Israel. It narrates the authors’ frustrations, trials, experiences and conclusions.
Two of the three authors – Dugard and Lynk – are members of the Board of Trustees of Law for Palestine. Law for Palestine had hosted the three authors in an exceptional webinar within its November 2021 conference , entitled “Palestine and International Law, Effectiveness and Prospects”, in which it dealt with the question of Palestine in the United Nations: the constant and variable, the present and future.
The foreword of the book is written by Francesa Albanese, the current UN Special Rapporteur on the Situation of Human Rights in Palestinian territories occupied since 1967.
