Defense for Children International affirmed that the “.22 Long Rifle” (Ruger) weapon used by the Israeli occupation forces to suppress Palestinian marches and demonstrations is a lethal weapon and not a “non-lethal” means to disperse the demonstrations as it claims. Moreover, It added that the last victim of this weapon that fires bullets known as “Toto” (0.22-inch diameter live bullets) is the child Ali Abu Aliya (13years) from the village of Mughayir, northeast of Ramallah, who was killed on the 4th of December 2020, during clashes that broke out in the village. DCI-Palestine also confirmed that the Israeli occupation’s claim that the child Abu Aliya was killed by mistake is not the first, as it has documented several cases of children who were wounded and killed by Ruger’s rifle during the past years.
