The Jordan Kingdom (here) and Egypt (here) have expressed their condemnation of Israel’s decision to approve the establishment of 780 new settlement units in the West Bank. The spokesman for the Jordanian Ministry, Ambassador Daifallah Ali Al-Fayez, confirmed that this step is a flagrant and grave breach of international law and resolutions of international legitimacy, foremost of which is Security Council Resolution No. 2334. The Egyptian Foreign Ministry spokesman, Ambassador Ahmed Hafez, also emphasized his country’s total rejection of the continuation of settlement activities in the occupied Palestinian territories, including East Jerusalem. He also emphasized the importance of a complete cessation of it, expressing Egypt’s concern over what these activities represent in undermining the possibility of achieving a two-state solution.
