Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry discussed with the UN Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, Tor Wennesland, ways to support the Palestinian issue, including the Egyptian efforts to reinitiate negotiations between the Israeli and the Palestinian sides. Shoukry emphasized Egypt’s steadfast support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people including the establishment of their independent state on the borders of June 4, 1967. On his part, Wennesland emphasized the importance of Egypt’s role in supporting a lasting and just solution to the Palestinian issue as well as in pushing forward the regional peace process.
