On Monday, the Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry met with the Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in Ramallah and discussed ways to resume negotiations leading to a two-state solution, stressing that his country’s rejection of Israeli annexation plans.
The Egyptian Foreign Minister told reporters after the meeting that “Egypt seeks to find the appropriate framework in accordance with the resolutions of international legitimacy and the Arab peace initiative and the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people in order to resume the political path and the negotiations which lead to a two-state solution, as it is the ideal solution that allows the Palestinian and Israeli people to live in peace.”
Shukry also has stressed that his country “is working with its international partners to support these efforts”, confirming Cairo’s rejection of the Israeli annexation plan “and any unilateral actions”.
