Foreign ministers from 11 European countries have demanded the EU quickly provide them with a list of possible actions to stop Israel annexing large parts of the occupied West Bank. This was supposed to be presented on May 15th, but that did not happen, and the ministers returned their request. The ministers want a list of possible options for the European Union in the event of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu advancing the annexation process. In a letter addressed to the EU foreign policy chief, Josep Borrell has asked for the potential “legal consequences” for Israel of annexation and its effect on the country’s agreements with the EU. The letter has expressed “grave concern” over the annexation plans and was signed by the foreign ministers of Ireland, Italy, Belgium, France, Portugal, Malta, Denmark, Sweden, Luxembourg, the Netherlands ,and Finland.
