Ireland, Estonia, France and Norway at the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) called on Israel to “cease settlement activities, demolitions, evictions and aggression against civilians in the Gaza Strip and East Jerusalem in line with its obligations under international humanitarian law.” They expressed their concern over clashes taking place in occupied Jerusalem, forced eviction in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood, and violence in holy places. They called on Israel to exercise restrain against harming Palestinian civilians and to abide by international humanitarian law. “We condemn the firing of rockets from Gaza against civilian populations in Israel by Hamas and other militant groups which is totally unacceptable and must stop immediately,” the 4 states’ statement added.
