The Minister of Jerusalem Affairs, Fadi al-Hidmi, said that we are taking a positive view of the U.S administration’s decision of re-opening its consulate general in East Jerusalem, including the huge and significant implications of this step. Al-Hidmi expressed the hope that the U.S administration would shortly fulfill this step, as a step toward recognizing the State of Palestine and East Jerusalem as its capital on 1967 borders. Al-Hidmi expressed the importance of the positions taken by the U.S Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, in rejecting the occupation, home demolitions, and home evictions. He pointed out that Blinken’s opposition to evicting the families from their homes in Sheikh Jarrah and Silwan neighborhoods must be accompanied with real pressure on the Israeli government to stop its actions of ethnic cleansing.
