The French Foreign Ministry condemned the decision of the Israeli occupation authorities to issue a tender for the construction of 1257 new settlement units in the settlement of “Givat Hamatos”, which is built on the lands of the town of Beit Safafa, southeast of occupied Jerusalem, and considered it illegal. The ministry called on Israeli authorities to reverse this decision. It stated that “The expansion of this settlement is a direct challenge to the viability of a future Palestinian state, as the EU has repeatedly reaffirmed.” The ministry added: “France calls for an end to any unilateral measures that undermine the two-state solution based on internationally agreed parameters, the only way to achieve just and lasting peace in the region.” To check the news, click here
