During the summit held in Al Ula, Saudi Arabia, the leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) affirmed that the Palestinian issue is the fundamental issue of the Arabs and Muslims. They also affirmed their support for the permanent sovereignty of the Palestinian people over all the Palestinian territories occupied since June 1967, and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, and ensuring refugee rights, according to the Arab peace initiative, international references and international legitimacy decisions. The statement of the GCC Summit stressed the centrality of the Palestinian issue, and the need to intensify the efforts of the international community to resolve the conflict, to meet all the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people. The statement also condemned the Israeli occupation authorities’ demolishing of dozens of homes in East Jerusalem, calling for international intervention to stop targeting the Palestinian people and displacing them forcibly from their homes, especially the Jeruslamists, and trying to change the city’s legal character and demographic structure, which contradicts international and humanitarian laws and related agreements. The statement stressed the rejection of any Israeli approach to annexing any part of the West Bank to Israel, considering this a clear violation of the United Nations Charter, principles of international law, and United Nations resolutions.
