The Gisha Legal Center for Freedom of Movement condemned the lack of action contributing to the recent upsurge in cases in the Gaza Strip. The Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza reported more than 75,000 confirmed cases so far and 642 deaths. The number of active cases increased by more than 100% over seven days. Gisha reminded that it had petitioned the High Court of Justice (HCJ) in Israel to demand that Israel take immediate steps to ensure the provision of vaccines to all Palestinian residents under occupation in the West Bank and Gaza. Gisha also expressed regret that the total number of vaccines available in Gaza is still far below what is needed for its population of two million people. For further details, click here
