The human rights organization “Gisha” sent an urgent letter to the Israeli minister of defense Naftali Bennett and coordinator of government activities Kamil Abu Rukun, demanding them to take immediate action to protect food security and promote economic activity in the Strip as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to spread. The letter called on lifting the ban on the so-called “dual-use items”, which are used by Israel as a pretext to impose collective punishments on the Gaza Strip. The letter also demanded to authorize the exportation of Gaza products to the West Bank (knowing that Gaza used to export 80% of its food products before the blockade). It stressed that Israel is legally responsible before Gaza’s population. To check the news, click here
