HaMoked said that the Israeli army has imposed, for more than 16 years, for alleged security reasons, a strict permit regime in parts of the West Bank called the “seam zone”, which is the lands between the Green Line and the separation wall built inside the West Bank, this matter is contrary to international law, because it forces Palestinians who live in the seam zone or want to enter it in order to go to their lands or visit their relatives to obtain a permit subject to the rules of a very suffocating and bureaucratic military apparatus.
With the imminent olive harvest, HaMoked sent a letter to the Israeli army requesting that adequate access to farmland be secured during the next harvest, in order to protect the farmers’ rights to freedom of movement and livelihood.
