The Human Rights Council in Geneva has decided to adopt a resolution proposed by Palestine on accountability, guarantee, and justice. 22 member states of the Human Rights Council voted in favor of the draft resolution that was submitted by Palestine through its mission and the countries and groups supporting it, in return for 17 countries abstaining and 8 countries opposing it. The Council has requested the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights to report on how all parties can fulfill their obligations in implementing the recommendations reviewed by the High Commissioner in 2017, including measures of accountability and legal measures to be taken by states to ensure respect by Israel, and all other relevant parties, of their obligations under international law in the Occupied Palestinian Territory including East Jerusalem. The Council condemned all acts of intimidation, threats, and DE legitimization directed against human rights organizations and civil society in Palestine. To check the news, click here
