Human Rights and Democracy Media Centers (SHAMS) condemned the Israeli occupation forces’ decision to extend closing down Palestine TV and its staff members from covering the news in Jerusalem for the 4th consecutive time. The Center said the closure decision is a gross violation of the principles of press freedom and free journalism, which are guaranteed in international agreements, conventions, and customs. It also called on the United Nations special rapporteurs, the International Federation of Journalists, the Federation of Arab Journalists, and international civil institutions to undertake immediate action and exert pressure to stop the systemic Israeli violations and attacks against journalism in Palestine and protect the freedom of journalism and the press. The Center also called on presenting the issue of Israeli attacks on journalists to the international commission of inquiry that is set to be formed by the United Nations Human Rights Council and the International Criminal Court.
