Human Rights Watch (HRW) released a report on Israeli policies in the occupied Palestinian territories and regarded them as crimes of apartheid and persecution against humanity. HRW considered the presence of such crimes should coerce the international community to reassess the nature of its work in Israel and Palestine and adopt a human rights and accountability-focused approach rather than a stalled “peace process.” Human Rights Watch called on the international community to set up a United Nations commission of inquiry to investigate systematic discrimination and repression in the occupied Palestinian territories, along with a United Nations global envoy for the crimes of persecution and apartheid, with a mandate to mobilize international action to end these crimes worldwide.
