In a phone call with Norwegian Prime Minister Erna Solberg, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas discussed the latest developments in Palestine, including Israel’s unilateral plan to annex parts of the occupied West Bank to its sovereignty. While President Abbas expressed Palestine’s readiness to engage in serious negotiations with the Israeli government, sponsored by the Quartet if Israel refrained from annexing.
On the other hand, Solberg affirmed her country’s position in support of achieving peace on the basis of a two-state solution, commitment to implement the international community resolutions. She expressed her rejection of any unilateral measures taken by Israel as they breach international law. In addition, she stressed the importance of reviving the peace process and said her country will continue to play its role in sponsoring the annual donor conference to help the Palestinian people build their institutions and economy.
