The President of the State of Palestine, Mahmoud Abbas, called on the Secretary- General of the United Nations to initiate, in cooperation with the Quartet and the Security Council, arrangements for holding an international conference with full powers, with the participation of all parties concerned; To engage in a genuine peace process based on international law and international legitimacy and the specific terms of reference. He reaffirmed at the 75th session of the United Nations General Assembly that it is unlawful for a person to speak or negotiate in the name of the Palestinian people, as the Palestine Liberation Organization has not authorized anyone to do so. He also added that the only way to establish a lasting, comprehensive, and just peace in the region is to end the occupation and embody the independence of the State of Palestine on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
