Institute for Palestine Studies published a book by researcher Jaber Suleiman titled “Dialogues Regarding the Issue of a Single Democratic State in Palestine.”
The book includes 19 interviews with leading figures in the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) and other Palestinian movements, as well as Palestinian thinkers and academics, conducted between March and April 1982.
These interviews shed light on an important period in the history of the Palestinian national movement, when the idea of a democratic state in Palestine began to be mooted.
The book provides a historical context for the evolution of Palestinian political thought, all the way from the Interim Program, to the Oslo Accords and the failure of the two-state solution, leading up to the current challenges.
The importance of the book lies in its revival of the idea of a single democratic state in the context of discussions about a free Palestine from the river to the sea.
