The Irish government, the first across the EU, supported a parliamentary proposal condemning the “de facto annexation” of Palestinian lands by Israel. The Irish Foreign Minister, Simon Coveney, supported the proposal and condemned what he described as a “manifestly unequal” treatment by Israel of the Palestinian people. Coveney addressed the Parliament: “The scale, pace and strategic nature of Israel’s actions on settlement expansion and the intent behind it have brought us to a point where we need to be honest about what is actually happening on the ground. … It is de facto annexation.” For further details, click here
