A delegation of the European Parliament said that it was planning to visit Gaza as part of its official visit to Palestine to provide humanitarian and development aid but the Israeli authorities refused to allow them to enter the Strip. According to a statement, “The fact that Israel prevented the delegation of the European Parliament from carrying out its official mission and interviewing the Palestinian interlocutors is not only a violation of international law but also an unacceptable reference and a challenge to the European citizens represented by the European Parliament.” The delegation was led by Manuel Pineda from Spain and a number of participants included Evin Anser from Sweden and Margaret Okin from Denmark.
