The Chairman of the Jerusalem Residents Committee, Amjad Abu Asab, said the Israeli occupation authorities revoked the health insurance of 16 former Palestinian prisoners and their families in Jerusalem. He added that the decision to revoke the health insurance of ex-prisoners and their families came to light when an ex-prisoner, Shadi Matur, along with ex-prisoners Naser Abu Khdair and Majid al-Joubi couldn’t receive treatment, indicating that the number of people with revoked health insurance is expected to rise. To fight against this decision, Abu Asab said the prisoners targeted by this decision went to human rights institutions for objections. Osama Sa’adi, the Knesset member on behalf of the joint List and in charge of the issue of prisoners, sent letters to concerned people to ask questions and inquire on the decision. This decision also includes cuts to other social benefits such as retirement and special needs. Kadoura Fares, the head of the Palestinian Prisoner Club, called on international human rights institutions to urgently interfere to end these dangerous racist transformations that target Palestinian Jerusalemites, and impose a sort of collective punishment though a system of racist legislation.
