The Israeli authorities renewed the decisions issued against the Governor of Jerusalem, Adnan Ghaith, to prevent him from entering the West Bank, and from participating in any meetings or events, in addition to preventing him from communicating with 51 Palestinian personalities. Ghaith expressed his rejection of these decisions, describing them as part of a policy of targeting and besieging the residents of the occupied city of Jerusalem, and a flagrant violation of their right to self-determination. The attorney’s office called on the international community to pressure Israel to immediately remove the governor’s ban on his right to movement, and to hold it accountable for decades of violations of international humanitarian law. He also called for the formation of a legal committee of Arab and international lawyers alongside Palestinian civil society to raise issues of siege and practices against the Palestinian population before international courts and human rights committees, and with urgent international protection for the Palestinian population.
