The Israeli Supreme Court refused a request submitted by Hebron’s Municipality to freeze a permit for building an elevator inside al-Haram al-Ibrahimi. Hebron’s mayor, Tayseer Abu Shneineh, confirmed that the Municipality is deeply concerned about this decision, stressing that the Municipality are proceeding with their legal battle against this unfair decision against the Palestinian Islamic site. The next step will include a court hearing appointment. Abu Shneineh pointed out that this decision goes against the decisions of the Executive Board of UNESCO, which affirmed that al-Haram al-Ibrahimi is an integral part of the occupied Palestinian territories.
