Jordanian King Abdullah II affirmed that the repeated Israeli provocative practices against the Palestinian people led to the ongoing escalation and pushed the region towards more and more tension, and stressed during his contact with the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, that there is no alternative to a political solution that leads to achieving peace on the basis of the two-state solution, which guarantees the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, sovereign and viable on the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital. The King affirmed that Jordan would continue to make all efforts to protect Islamic and Christian holy sites in the Holy City, and stressed the need for the international community to shoulder its responsibilities and to take action to stop the Israeli attacks, and to push for peace talks.
