The Jordanian Ministry of Foreign and Expatriate Affairs (here), Consulate General of France in Jerusalem (here), and the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs (here)condemned Israel’s recent decision to issue tenders for the construction of 2572 new settlement units in several settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories. The spokesman for the Jordanian Foreign Ministry, Ambassador Daifallah Ali Al-Fayez, said, the settlement activities are neither legitimate nor legal, condemned and rejected, and are a flagrant and grave breach of international law, foremost among which is Security Council Resolution No. 2334. The Turkish Foreign Ministry said: “The increase in Israel’s such and similar actions ahead of every election to prevent the establishment of a contiguous Palestinian State based on the two-state solution and to change the status of Jerusalem, reflect a dangerous mindset of opportunism.” The Jordanian and Turkish Foreign Ministry called on the international community to take actions to protect the rights of the Palestinian people and the Palestinian territories and to assume its responsibilities to pressure Israel to stop its settlement policies and activities. France also called on the Israeli authorities not to implement these decisions regarding settlements.
