Jordanian Foreign Minister, Ayman Safadi, discussed with the EU Special Envoy for the Middle East Peace Process Sven Koopmans efforts to maintain calm in the occupied Palestinian territories and to find a political horizon to achieve a just and comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution in accordance with the relevant international laws and the Arab Peace Initiative. Safadi stressed that there is no alternative to the two-state solution that embodies the independent, sovereign Palestinian state with occupied Jerusalem as its capital on the June 4, 1967 lines. Koopmans affirmed his appreciation for the Kingdom’s role and efforts in maintaining calm and protecting chances of achieving a just peace, stressing the desire to continue cooperation with Jordan to restore momentum to the peace process.
