Jordan called on the international community to assume its responsibilities to exert pressure on Israel and force it to stop its ongoing violations of the Al-Aqsa Mosque. This comes in the wake of the occupation authorities ’decision to extend the evening period during which settlers are allowed to storm Al-Aqsa Mosque, for another half hour, to an hour and a half instead of one hour. The Jordanian Foreign Ministry spokesman, Dhaif Al-Fayez, confirmed that “the incursions of extremists under the protection of the Israeli police are a violation of the legal and historical status quo and international law.” And he considered that “extending the period of the originally rejected incursions is an attempt to violate the status quo.” Al-Fayez called on the Israeli authorities to “stop violations and respect the sanctity of Al-Aqsa Mosque, respect the legal and historical status quo, and respect the authority of the Jerusalem Waqf administration.” The Jordanian official also warned against the consequences of continuing these violations, calling on the international community to assume its responsibilities to pressure Israel to stop the continuing violations of the Temple Mount “the Haram esh-Sharif”.
