King Abdullah II of Jordan, during a summit meeting with US President Joe Biden at the White House in Washington, stressed the need for the Palestinian people to realize their legitimate rights and establish an independent, sovereign and viable state on June 4, 1967 lines, with East Jerusalem as its capital. The King of Jordan also stressed the necessity of working to re-launch serious and effective negotiations between the Palestinians and Israelis, to achieve a just and comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution. The meeting also addressed developments in the city of Jerusalem, where the King of Jordan stressed the need to preserve the historical and legal status quo in Jerusalem, particularly in Al-Haram Al-Sharif. The King noted that Jordan continues to play its consistent historical and religious role in the protection of the Islamic and Christian sacraments in the Holy City, out of the Hashemite guardianship of these sacraments.
