The Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates summoned the Chargé d’Affaires of the Israeli Embassy in Amman to reiterate the Jordanian government’s protest to and condemnation of the ongoing Israeli violations in the al-Aqsa Mosque, and the recent attacks against Jerusalemites, particularly in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood in occupied East Jerusalem. The MOFA also called on the Israeli authorities to abide by its obligation as an occupying power in East Jerusalem under international law, to cease the violations and attacks against the al-Aqsa Mosque and Jerusalemites, and to halt all acts of displacement of the residents of the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood from their homes. Batayneh affirmed that Israeli court decisions are null regarding occupied East Jerusalem under international humanitarian law, and called on the Israeli authorities to respect the provisions of the international law regarding the situation of Palestine.
