On this day in 1982, the UNSC adopted resolution (515), demanding that the Israeli Government immediately lift the blockade of Beirut to allow the dispatch of supplies to meet the urgent needs of the civilian population. In addition to allow the distribution of assistance provided by UN agencies and non-governmental organizations, in particular the International Committee of the Red Cross.
