On this day in 1967, the Security Council (UNSC) adopted its resolution (237), calling on the Government of Israel to ensure the safety, well-being and security of the population of the areas where military operations have taken place. In addition to facilitate the return of those who have fled these areas since the outbreak of hostilities. It recommends that the Governments concerned strictly respect the humanitarian principles, of the treatment of prisoners of war and the protection of civilian persons in time of war, contained in the Geneva Conventions of August 12, 1949.
