On May 31, 2021 Law for Palestine, through its senior advisor and Board member Hassan Ben Imran, delivered a key talk at the Human Rights Committee webinar on “Palestine and International Justice” hosting members of the Malaysian Bar Council and international lawyers and experts to discuss how international justice mechanisms can be activated efficiently to bring about justice to the victims in Palestine.
The speakers stressed the dire need for more organized legal action and for further training for young lawyers who wish to take part in this. They also emphasized that the inherent weaknesses in the international legal regime; such as the lack of enforcement mechanisms, should not be a reason not to seek legal remedies and establish legal facts through the frameworks of international law.
Ben Imran, in his participation, established the legal context of the conflict and discussed the way forward and how international law could be more influential considering the lack of implementation in the case of Palestine.
