Live Interpreter (English-Arabic) Part-Time Volunteer (Remotely)
Law for Palestine is looking for a talented Live Interpreter (English – Arabic) to volunteer on a part-time monthly basis within its Jurists for Palestine Forum
Description of Duties:
Jurists for Palestine Forum is conducting monthly online webinars hosting an international legal expert/s and gather them with junior and professional legal professionals to discuss different topics related to international law and Palestine. The webinars are held once a month, via zoom, and lasts for 1 hour 30 minutes (+-15 minutes). As many of the Forum’s international experts are foreigners, the language of many of the webinars is English. Therefore, the Forum needs a talented live interpreter to provide an immediate, fast and professional translation for the Forum’s audience from English to Arabic via zoom.
The Live Interpreter shall perform the following duties:
- Provide effective audio, remote interpreting service for the Forum’s participants during the monthly webinars.
- Exhibit professional behavior at all times including punctuality, respect, and preparedness.
- Adhere to interpreter ethical standards and procedural requirements specific to interpreting context.
Required Experience:
The successful candidate shall have the following experience:
- Fluent and possess strong verbal translation skills (from English to Arabic and vice-versa).
- Have previous experience in audio live interpreting (either online or offline).
- Familiar with legal terminologies (especially in international law and human rights).
- law degree is a preference.
Successful Candidates:
- Must be willing to work remotely within Jurists for Palestine Forum’s interpretation team on a 6-months volunteer contract (with the possibility of extension);
- Will work for 2 hours per month, and will be informed of the exact time and date of each webinar at least one week in advance.
- Must sign a confidentiality agreement with Law for Palestine.

Law for Palestine (L4P) is a voluntary and non-profit organization registered in the United Kingdom. It aims to build and create a network of legal professionals interested in Palestine from around the world, and to provide enriched and objective Palestinian legal content.
Jurists for Palestine Forum is the first forum for legal professionals and lawyers interested in Palestine and international law from all over the world. The main goal of the Forum is to create and network between legal professionals and lawyers interested in Palestine from around the world, to provide training, raise awareness, and coordinate work in this area. The Forum was launched 4 months ago and takes the form of virtual monthly seminars that gather its members with an international legal expert to discuss topics related to international law and Palestine. Currently, there are around 400 members in the forum who follow and watch the monthly discussions, and around 25 active participants who take part in the discussions. The seminars are private for forum’s members.
