UNSC issues resolution no. 50 on Palestine on this day.
On this day in 1948, the United Nations Security Council issued Resolution No. 50, calling on all governments and relevant authorities to halt all acts of armed violence for a period of four weeks and refrain from admitting belligerents into Palestine, Egypt, Iraq, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Transjordan, and Yemen during the ceasefire period. The resolution calls on all governments and concerned authorities to refrain from importing or exporting war materials to or from Palestine, Egypt, Iraq, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Transjordan, and Yemen during the ceasefire period. It also urged all concerned governments and authorities to take all feasible precautions for the freedom of the Holy Places and the City of Jerusalem, including the maintenance of accessibility to all shrines and temples for the purpose of worship by those who have an established right to do so.
