The General Assembly of the Democratic Party in North Carolina considered Israel an Apartheid state. It decided to propose it to the SEC Meeting (Summer State Executive Committee Meeting) to repeal the legislation that criminalizes and punishes the companies and individuals that follow (BDS) Movement. The General Assembly described Israel as an Apartheid State in a poll, considering the state law of punishing those who boycott Israel as “an unconstitutional law infringing on the First Amendment right to free speech”. The General Assembly considered boycotting Israel is a non-violent way of protest to achieve the objective of the Democratic Party’s program to North Carolina, for the restoration of full human rights of the Palestinian people, confirming that it will work with the General Assembly of the party to repeal the legislations that prevent anyone from practicing this right. The decision considered the law that criminalizes those who boycott places a burden on North Carolina Companies which seek to make contract with the state Government and entities that also participate in the constitutionally protected freedom of speech to restore the human rights of the Palestinian people.
