The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (here)and the League of Arab States (here) condemned the decision of the Israeli occupation authorities to approve the construction of 2572 new settlement units in the settlements built on the Palestinian land occupied since 1967, including the city of Jerusalem. The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) considered this decision a continuation of violations by Israel, the occupying power, of international law and resolutions of international legitimacy, and a challenge to the will of the international community.OIC emphasized that the Israeli settlement policy is illegal, and aims to undermine the vision of the two-state solution, which was endorsed by international law and the Arab Peace Initiative. For his part, the Arab League Assistant Secretary-General for Palestine and Occupied Arab Territories Saeed Abu Ali said, the settlement projects require the development of a decisive international position that hinders the occupation. Abu Ali called on the international community and the Security Council to put a decisive end to Israeli settlements, and firm international action to implement the international law, provide protection, and ensure international accountability to the Israeli occupation authorities with a course of action leading to end the occupation and enable the Palestinian people to exercise their right to self-determination in their independent state on the borders of 1967 and its capital, East Jerusalem, according to international law resolutions.
